Monday January 19- MLK JR Day- National Day of Service

I was happy to read that Obama is calling for Monday January 19 to be a national day of service, in addition to Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  You can read a brief article about his call to service here.

I am interested to see if he will use the energy and excitement of the millions of people backing him to mobilize us to do things to help our country, and it seems like he will.  Even though I work that day, I am going to try to do a little something by donating books to the local Head Start Program, which is a day of service idea I found listed here.  There is also this MLKDAY website with thousands of ways to get involved in some project in your area.

My mom also sent me a link to Seth Godin’s blog with a list of 18 of his own ideas.  (Thanks mom!)

Let’s do something positive to kick off the new Obama administration!

Calling All Mamas for Hope and Change!

This t-shirt is one of my favs: This Mama is for Obama by ninaandtomsshop for $20.00. They have other tees too, perfect for spreading the message.

If you can donate to MoveOn.org, they will use your money to register young Obama votes and you will get this cool shirt for your donation of $12.00 or more.

This is a cool necklace with a subtle message from Silvercocoon. At $68.00 it is over my $50.00 limit, but it is too fab not to include.

Another necklace is this reclaimed scrabble tile pendant with a wonderful illustration by artist Frank Shepard Fairey. Nice. Nice price too…. $6.95.

I’ve been wondering where to get a yard sign, and I found this one from the BarackObama Store. It is $8.00, but you can probably find them in your area as well.

Here are some of my favorite bumper stickers.
